How To Manifest Your Dream Life

We are like magnets – we attract the energy we give off from our thoughts, surroundings and actions. Whether it’s positive or negative, the energy that you put into the world is given back to you, tenfold. And when you visualize where you aspire to be, you attract that into your life. That’s the Law of Attraction in a nutshell.

There are various ways that you can attract positive things into your life – from vision boards to daily mantras. While I practice both of these exercises, my favorite way to envision my dreams is to create a life list.

A life list, or a bucket list, is a log of things that you want to see and do before you leave this Earth or “kick the bucket.” From starting your own business, to backpacking through Europe, there are no limits to what you can include in your life list. In essence, you’re creating the life that you want, and that is one of the most rewarding things you can do.

One of my favorite books is The Alchemist by Paul Coelho. And in it he says,

“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

The Universe works for you, not against you. And when you write down your goals or cut out clippings of pictures and text and glue them to your vision board, you help the Universe give you the things you want. Be specific about what you want, and things will fall into place over time.

Here are five ways that a bucket list can help you create the life you’ve always wanted:

  1. Write it down and make it plain: Start off by having a brain dump – write down everything that you want for your life. Think about where you want to be in 5 years, 2 years, six months from now. Then organize your life list into categories, like “adrenaline adventures” or “personal development.” You can also create bucket lists for different occasions, like things you want to do before graduating college or starting a family.
  2. Keep yourself accountable: Check your life list every so often to see what you’ve done and what else there is to. But don’t stress if you haven’t checked off a lot of the items. It’s called a LIFE LIST for a reason – be patient and have faith that the Universe will make it all happen before your six feet under.
  3. Discover your “why”: We all have a purpose but some of us never discover it. Creating a life list helps you reflect internally and think about what matters to you. As you jot down your list, think about what trends you’re seeing, and how items on your list connects. Always wanted to start your own business but didn’t know what to pursue? Maybe your desire to volunteer abroad can be the seed to a successful business venture.
  4. Build your legacy: When you’ve moved on to another life, what do you want people to remember you for? For being a go-getter? A humanitarian? A thrill seeker? Creating a life list and sharing it with your friends, family and even the world via a blog, is a great way to build your legacy. When people view your life list, they will be reminded that you were fearless and eager to make your dreams come true. So many people are afraid of their dreams so they settle for complacency instead of harnessing the power within them. The checked off items on your life list will show that no dream was too big for you to reach.
  5. Do your part: The Universe is working to your advantage, but nothing will happen unless you actively chase your dreams. If you desire to travel the world, set up a savings account just for your global adventures. If you want to learn something new like graphic design or sign language, research classes and other opportunities where you can develop those skills. Don’t play a passive role in your life and expect things to just come to you. That’s not how the Law of Attraction works. You have to play your part in order to create the life you want.

Tomorrow is truly not promised and the clock is ticking on the time you have left on the Earth. Your life could be over in the blink of an eye. When it’s your time to go, you don’t want to be saying your should of, could of, would ofs. You want to know that you actually lived instead of merely existed.
